Mothers Day

Mother's Day Sunday is always uplifting.  Everyone seems happy, the crowds are good, and worship is great.  Yesterday was even more special as Lavonne Scott was baptized into Christ!  It turned a Mother's Day into Father's Day, as Lavonne became a child of God.  What a great start to the week!

I am really excited about next Sunday.  We will begin a new series of sermons called "Maestro" from the book of Daniel.  This is a book I have wanted to preach from for several years.  It is one of the great books of the Old Testament.  But why call it "Maestro"?  It is a title of extreme respect to the master musician of a great orchestra.  It is the conductor who unifies the performers, sets the tempo, and executes the beautiful music.  In this book, God is the Great Maestro conducting, not only the individual lives of His people, but the nations of the world.  It is a powerful display of the Sovereignty of God.  Many are familiar with some of the stories, such as the fiery furnace, the lions den or the handwriting on the wall, but there are so many other things that occurred that will blow your mind.  This week we will do an introduction to the book.

Next Sunday night is Senior Night for our High School graduates.  This is always a special time for these families.  If nothing else it's fun looking at the pictures.  There will be a reception following.

I spoke with Trudy Teague this morning and she is still struggling after the loss of Willie.  Continue to pray for her and the family.  They are hoping to firm up the arrangements for the funeral tomorrow.

As usual check on those you haven't seen in a while.  If you know of someone who needs the attention of the elders or ministers, please call.
